A beloved father died leaving a blended family of three different groups and his widow unable to agree on distribution of his property. Lawyers were engaged but the stumbling block was the wide number and variety of personalities, needs and interests of the dozen or so people involved. Emailing, letters, phone calls hadn't been successful. We set up a mediation with all interested parties, some represented by lawyers and discussed outcomes, barriers and the future in a measured, respectful way. Having a Mediator there meant a certain level of behaviour was expected, decisions were discussed rationally, and most importantly, relationships were restored. Settlement was reached at the end of an 8 hour process.
